Android Auto connectivity was introduced by Navigator 7 for Android with further enhancements in the later versions. (Navigator 7.1 and Navigator 7.2)

Since then the drivers have been able to use MapFactor Navigator on their in-build car displays with Android Auto connectivity. No need to check the smartphone display anymore. Driving is now safer and more comfortable. What is more, thanks to the offline map data Navigator on Android Auto provides directions also without an internet connection.

From the very start, unlike by some other navigation apps, this function has been available at no extra charge in all Navigator 7 and higher versions – from Navigator FREE to professional Navigator PRO.

Is your vehicle compatible with Android Auto?

Not sure if your vehicle supports Android Auto or Wireless Android Auto? Check your exact car or head‑unit model on the official Android Auto compatibility page: www.android.com/auto/compatibility/.

Note: compatibility depends on the vehicle model and the infotainment firmware. Some cars require a firmware update or an initial USB connection before wireless mode or newer UI features (for example Coolwalk layouts) are available. If your model is listed as compatible but Android Auto features are missing, check for infotainment updates with your dealer or manufacturer.

How to connect Navigator to your vehicle with Android Auto

It is easy to connect Navigator (version 7 and higher) to your car with Android Auto. All you need is:

Phone requirements and Android Auto support

Android Auto must be supported by your smartphone. On many modern phones Android Auto functionality is built into the system (no separate Android Auto app required), while some devices still use a standalone Android Auto app. We recommend Android 9 or later for best compatibility, though some features may work on older versions. Some older devices with Android 6–8 may still work but might require the standalone Android Auto app.
To check support, open your phone settings and search for “Android Auto” or “Car” settings, or consult your device documentation. Ensure your phone OS and the Android Auto/Car settings are up to date.

Ensure Android Auto has necessary permissions (location, notifications, microphone, background activity) and disable battery saver or background restrictions for stable operation.

Install Navigator

Install Navigator for Android and keep the app updated:

Wired connection (USB)

Use a high‑quality USB cable to connect your phone to your car. USB provides the most reliable connection for audio, charging, and data and can resolve setup issues when wireless pairing fails.

Wireless Android Auto (if supported)

Many phones and head units support Wireless Android Auto, which uses Bluetooth for discovery and a local Wi‑Fi link for data. To use wireless mode: enable Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi on your phone, pair the phone with the head unit over Bluetooth, and follow the prompts on both devices. If wireless pairing is unstable or unavailable, switch to a USB connection. Keep battery saver and background restrictions disabled for Android Auto to improve wireless stability.

Short troubleshooting note

If Android Auto does not appear on your car: update the phone OS and infotainment firmware, disable battery saver/background limits for Android Auto, reboot both phone and head unit, and try a USB connection to complete any initial setup.
